Preach the Word!
Greetings to Friends, Brothers, and Sisters of The Church of God.
I come to you today rejoicing in the miracle working power of the Holy
Ghost. God has done so very much for us this past year. We have
witnessed a mighty moving of His Spirit in our Missions work in Mexico this past year. The Truth is being preached and accepted much like starving children who reach out for a morsel of bread as if it were a ten course meal. To God be the Glory, great things He hath done! How humbling it is to be called to preach His Word, which has been our focus in the Region of Indiana, Kentucky, and Ohio.
I have sought the Lord for direction for our Region and I feel He would have us to continue to “Preach the Word” for the coming year. “What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops” (Matthew 10:27).
The unadulterated Word of God rings forth as each Minister of the Gospel presents the Good News to this generation. The Spirit of God will confirm His Word with signs following (Mark 16:20) as sound doctrine goes forth from the lips of those who preach the gospel. The Psalmist David wrote: “Let my heart be sound in thy statues; that I be not ashamed.” David knew that in order for him to become a victorious Christian and witness, he must first establish his heart in the Word of God.
The Apostle Paul gives us instruction in 1Timothy 1:13, “Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou has heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.”
The Church of God has a responsibility to “hold fast” to sound doctrine. To do this will bring reproof to this world. John 16: 8says, “And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin and of righteousness, and of judgment: Of sin, because they believe not on me; of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.”
As His Bride and representatives in this world, we proclaim the same Truth that He proclaimed when He walked the earth. The unbeliever rejects the Word of God because it shows him his shortcomings and how badly he needs a Savior. The Word of God also brings judgment to his house and proclaims the future of our enemy, satan.
Therefore, we MUST CONTINUE to PREACH THE WORD!
“But hath in due times manifested his word through preaching, which is committed unto me according to the commandment of God our Saviour” (Titus 1:3).
