Regional Report
2006 Youth Camp!
Report for the 2006 Youth Camp
of The Church of God
Indiana, Kentucky, & Ohio
Bishop Danny Carter – Regional Overseer
Brother Jeff & Sister Melissa Wilcox – Camp Coordinators
We would like to begin this report by thanking all of those who were willing to give of their time to serve as staff for the 2006 Youth Camp of The Church of God in Indiana, Kentucky, and Ohio. Without each one of you volunteering to be a member of the camp staff this very important arm of the youth ministry could never be realized.

We would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the parents of each

camper that was able to attend camp this year. Your children are always such

a blessing to us. It is often difficult to tell who was blessed more, the campers,

or the staff. We realize that, with camp being a short week this year, the task of

arranging for the campers to be dropped off and picked up was much more

difficult. We so much appreciate your willingness to work through the

inconvenience of getting your children to camp year. It is our desire to take

camp back to a full week next year.
Forty-five campers attended Youth Camp this year and they were served by approximately twenty-one staff members. Camp this year was only three days long which is considerably shorter than the normal six days. There were a number of reasons for the shorter camp week, but God still blessed in a wonderful way even though He only had three days to do so.
Throughout the daily activities all of the campers were together except for class time and the church services. During these times the Junior Campers when to a Bible Study class taught by Sister Gina Phelps and a craft class taught by Sister Lisa Newport. The Senior Campers attended classes taught by Brother Randy Hazel and Brother Frank Edwards. Brother Randy and Brother Frank alternated teaching the campers the 29 Important Truths of The Church of God.
Brother Eric Phelps was the Camp Evangelist this year for the Senior Camp. God used him mightily in every one of his messages. The altars were full every night, but Tuesday night saw the Holy Ghost move in such a mighty way. People were praying and receiving what they needed from God well into the night.
Sister Earlene Edwards was the Junior Camp Evangelist. It is amazing how God can move on the hearts of Junior Campers, and how serious they can get with God in their services. To walk into that chapel and see 8 and 9 year old children in the altar praying and crying with each other is a blessing that defies description.
Overall there were 6 saved, 5 sanctified, 3 filled with the Holy Ghost, and 1 healed this year in camp. Several others, including campers and staff, testified of the wonderful blessings they received from God during camp this year. We thank God for each one of these that received what they needed from Him.
It also must be reported that Brother Eric Phelps has regained the basketball title from Brother Jeff Wilcox. At Men’s Retreat this year Brother Jeff had beaten Brother Eric in basketball for the first time ever. For the three months between Men’s Retreat and Camp Brother Eric went through an “extensive” training program, and was able to regain the title in fine fashion.
Mallory Goodin also found out that Brother Eric is not one to antagonize. One day during lunch Mallory was helping wash the dishes and thought it would be funny to spray Brother Eric with the rinsing nozzle. It was funny alright. It was actually very funny. But what was even funnier was seeing Mallory hog-tied, soaked with water, and then rolled in the sand box.
It is always fun to watch the Giggles and Wiggles. These are the children of the staff who are technically too young to be campers, but they come to camp because mom and dad are there. So we decided to go ahead and let them be campers. Sister Earlene Edwards does a wonderful work with our Giggles and Wiggles. We appreciate her efforts in making camp a pleasant experience for these very young campers and taking the time to teach them God’s love.
Again, thanks to everyone who participated in the 2006 Youth Camp of The Church of God in Indiana, Kentucky, and Ohio whether you were a camper or a staff member. Remember, we can not have camp without you. God bless each and every one of you. We look forward to seeing you next year. Oh yeah, tell your friends about camp. Maybe they will come with you next year.
