2007 Regional Prayer & Fasting Conference
Saturday, February 10, 2007 - Evening Session

The Saturday evening session of the conference was called to order shortly after 6:00 PM February 10, 2007 by Brother Danny Carter, Regional Overseer of The Church of God for Indiana, Kentucky, and Ohio.

As with the previous sessions of the conference, Brother Carter called for as many as could to join him at the front of the auditorium for prayer.  Brother Carter spoke of how he has seen God move and bless His church as He worked with and through the various “groups” within the church, two examples being Ladies’ Retreat and Men’s Retreat. With this in mind Brother Carter asked the sisters to gather on one side of the platform and the brothers to gather on the opposite side.

Brother Eric Phelps, Brother Don Hutton, and Brother Chris Newport each lead individual prayers to begin this session of prayer, which was followed by the entire congregation joining together in concert prayer.  Immediately following the concert prayer such a spirit of love and unity entered this place that I do not have the words to describe it. The sisters were hugging and greeting each other with true Godly love as the brothers were doing likewise.

Brother Carter said it more than once throughout the course of this conference and it certainly bears repeating here; there is no greater group of people in the world than those that were gathered together in this conference, and it is an honor and a privilege to work and to serve with each and every one of them.  The love for God, for The Church of God, and for the people of God that these wonderful folks have in their hearts is unsurpassed.  You will find not greater examples of love, integrity, and sincerity in the world than what has been manifested by these dear saints.

It has been so good to begin each session with this time of prayer.  God has wonderfully assured us of His presence in our midst during each of these times of prayer; we have felt His gentle touch and His loving embrace throughout this conference.

Brother Jeff Wilcox led the congregation in a time of devotion and scripture reading from the 2nd chapter of Luke verses 10 – 14. Sister Missy Wilcox led the congregation in singing “Just a Little Talk with Jesus” and “On the Battlefield”.

Sister Regina Goodin blessed the conference with a wonderful concert of soul stirring, uplifting, and encouraging songs.  She began by singing “He Is Here”, followed by “In the Presence of Jehovah”.  She was joined by her three daughters Jordan, Whitney, and Mallory in singing “Wonderful, Merciful Saviour”, and Sister Goodin closed out the concert by singing “God Will Make a Way” and “His Strength is Perfect”.

This prayer conference has been summed up perfectly by the selection of these songs.  There can be no doubt that God has placed His confirmation on this conference.  This can be said with all certainty because God has been here with us in this conference; we have been in the presence of Jehovah, and He has blessed His children mightily. He is a wonderful, merciful Saviour. He has given us the strength and the courage to stand for the truth and to graciously endure everything the enemy has cast our way.  He has been so merciful to us over the past several months in that He has protected us and sheltered us and bound us together in love; with cords that can not be broken.

He has made a way for us to get this far and He continues to make a way.  We believe with our whole heart that God will make a way, and that through His way The Church of God will continue to be the light of the world.  The enemy is trying to dim the light of the church, but when God makes a way she will shine so brightly that all men will be drawn to her and glorify our Father which is in heaven.

His strength is perfect.  He has taken us from strength to strength, and the things that seem impossible to us are not impossible with God, because nothing is impossible with Him. His perfect strength will bring us through this valley, and His strength will carry us to the top of the mountain.

The youth of The Church of God in Franklin, Indiana put on a skit immediately following Sister Goodin. The skit was of a father who had to leave his daughter at a home for girls while he went away to build a house for them.  He promised her that he would be back.  The weeks and months passed yet she never gave up hope that her father would return to get her.  The other girls teased her telling her that he would never return; that he probably isn’t even alive; the administration expressed concern over her apparent false hope; yet she stood strong and firmly attested that he would be back to get her.

One day her father did return to get her.  She ran to him say “You did come back”. His answer was, “Of course I did; I told you I would, didn’t I?”  As they were leaving the man who ran the home called after the girl and told her that he honestly did not believe that her father would ever return, and her answer to him was, “That’s because you never really knew my father”.

It is so important for us to know the Father today.  If we don’t know the Father it will be very difficult for us to have the faith that He will bring us through this time of adversity within The Church of God. But we do know the Father today, and we can say will all certainty that He will take care of His church, and of His people, and that He will bring us through the fire, and that He will bear us on eagles’ wings and bring us unto Himself.

Brother Carter brought the message to us for this session entitled, “God’s Final Confirmation”.  At the beginning of his message an incredible video was shown.  There is no way that I could begin to describe this video in words, but the video showed several scenes from events that have taken place around the world in the recent past.  It then goes into a minister preaching about the coming of the Lord.  He was saying that the Lord could come back next month, He could come back next week, He could come back…..then BANG…..you see his bible hit the floor, he is gone, and most of the congregation is gone.  Those that remain are looking around in shock and then one by one they begin falling on their knees, weeping and praying, as they begin to realize what had just happened.  The video ends with a question; “Are You Ready For God’s Final Confirmation?”   Wow!  What an impact! What a statement this video made!

  • John 14
1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.
2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you.
I go to prepare a place for you.
3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto
myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

The Word of God is a constant Confirmation that He will return.  The word tells us that His wife hath made herself ready.

  • Luke 24
50 And he led them out as far as to Bethany, and he lifted up his hands, and
blessed them.
51 And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them, and
carried up into heaven.
52 And they worshipped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy:
53 And were continually in the temple, praising and blessing God. Amen.

From the lowest depths to the extreme heights God has complete control.  He sees us where we are, and he knows everything that we are facing, and that we are going through.  Right now The Church of God is so distracted from internal matters that we have lost sight of the fact that God is getting this world ready for His return.

  • Isaiah 52
1 Awake, awake; put on thy strength, O Zion; put on thy beautiful garments, O
Jerusalem, the holy city: for henceforth there shall no more come into thee the
uncircumcised and the unclean.
2 Shake thyself from the dust; arise, and sit down, O Jerusalem: loose thyself
from the bands of thy neck, O captive daughter of Zion.
3 For thus saith the LORD, Ye have sold yourselves for nought; and ye shall be
redeemed without money.
4 For thus saith the Lord GOD, My people went down aforetime into Egypt to
sojourn there; and the Assyrian oppressed them without cause.
5 Now therefore, what have I here, saith the LORD, that my people is taken away
for nought? they that rule over them make them to howl, saith the LORD; and my
name continually every day is blasphemed.
6 Therefore my people shall know my name: therefore they shall know in that
day that I am he that doth speak: behold, it is I.
7 How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings,
that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth salvation;
that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth!
8 Thy watchmen shall lift up the voice; with the voice together shall they sing: for
they shall see eye to eye, when the LORD shall bring again Zion.
9 Break forth into joy, sing together, ye waste places of Jerusalem: for the LORD
hath comforted his people, he hath redeemed Jerusalem.
10 The LORD hath made bare his holy arm in the eyes of all the nations; and all
the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God.
11 Depart ye, depart ye, go ye out from thence, touch no unclean thing; go ye out
of the midst of her; be ye clean, that bear the vessels of the LORD.
12 For ye shall not go out with haste, nor go by flight: for the LORD will go before
you; and the God of Israel will be your rereward.

We must realize that God is in control. God is telling His true sheep to WAKE UP and put on their strength. We must shake ourselves from the dust of this world, and sit in a dignified place. The Church of God is that dignified place. You can’t just act “any ole way” and stay in The Church of God. If there was a desire to “fix” the things that are wrong in The Church of God, then they would have already been fixed.

The definition of Culled Out is to be taken out for the purpose of being destroyed.  God is shaking The Church of God today, and those who are not willing to live right will be Culled Out, as opposed to Called Out.

Verses 11 & 12 of Isaiah chapter 52 are telling us that it is time to depart from this place. Don’t contaminate yourselves with the unclean. At the same time however, don’t be in a hurry; don’t make haste, because we are not running from anything or anybody. God is our rear-guard. Put on your beautiful garments of holiness Church of God.

One day soon there is coming a noise that will be heard by all men over the entire world.  In Luke 24:39 Jesus confirms His resurrection.

  • Luke 24
39 Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a
spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have.

In only 40 days Jesus put the finishing touches on things in preparation for His ascension.  Right now He is putting the finishing touches in place in preparation for His return.  Are you ready for God’s Final Confirmation?  It is our desire that God will open our understanding after 40 days of prayer and fasting.

God’s Final Confirmation – He came by His own will and He can leave at His own will. Purify yourselves, you that carry the Holy vessels.

This session was closed out by having a prayer line. Brother Carter called the ministry to form the prayer line.  They prayed together and then prayed for those coming through the line.  What a time in we had relishing in the presence of God during this prayer line.  Many received a touch and blessings from God while passing through the line; TO GOD BE THE GLORY!!
