"Testimonies"
Brother Greg Hughes writes...
Over 2 years ago, I discovered a "knot" on the right side of my neck below my ear. I went to a specialist who did a CAT scan and biopsy and stated it was a benign tumor but he suggested it be removed. He stated that if it wasn't, it could eventually become cancerous. I decided to wait on surgery. However, the tumor began to grow and cause me pain. Nearly 2 years later, I received a second opinion, which was basically the same as the first. They each described how severe of a surgery it could be, with possible nerve damage and paralysis in my face. Weeks later, I received my third opinion from Dr. Hughes in Lexington KY. He did another CAT scan which showed the tumor had grown. I returned for another biopsy, and surgery was scheduled.
On May 11, 2006, I underwent surgery at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington, KY. I was in surgery for approximately 3 hours. The doctor met with my family and stated "the surgery could not have gone any better." The tumor was benign and there was no nerve damage. I told him that was because I had 476,832,549,011 people praying for me. He said "that may have had something to do with it." I said, "it had everything to do with it." I stayed overnight at the hospital and returned home the following day.
Each time I would eat, regardless of what I ate, I would experience severe swelling and pain where the tumor had been. I returned to the doctor on May 19th to have the sutures removed. He said I would have to deal with this for some time. On May 20th I attended the Prayer and Fast Conference in Richmond KY. My 7 year old son and I went through the prayer line. I went through for my father, who is very ill, and my son went through for me; though I didn't know it at the time.
Today is May 29th and PRAISE THE LORD I have not had any pain or swelling since that service! The Lord had His hand on me through this whole ordeal, and this ole’ boy will never forget it. I will never be able to repay Him for what He has done for me even before I got saved. He has always had His hand upon me and I know it. Sometimes God has to get our attention when He wants us to draw closer to Him. I want everyone to know that I will be praying for you as you have for me. God Bless You All!
