General Overseer
Re: Phone Conversation, September 30, 2005
Dear Bishop Pruitt:
Greetings to you in the precious name of Jesus. It is my prayer that you are recuperating well from your recent eye surgery. As always, I have been praying for you daily.
Thank you for the opportunity to meet with you on September 26th. It is always good to see you, however, I feel very little was accomplished.
After our phone conversation on September 29th, it was my hope that a meeting with the Counseling Committee, or a meeting with this entire region, would have been granted. I was deeply saddened when both requests were denied.
I am thankful every day that Jesus was willing to relinquish His place on the throne of heaven, and come to this earth to save one like me. While He was here, He loved the people and took the time to talk with them, and even enjoyed their company. He spoke in parables so that the simple could understand His words. The Bible says in Hebrews 4:15a,
"For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with our infirmities."
When I came to the General Office on July 18th, I shared with you pictures of our Pastors, the local membership and their church buildings. I noticed as you relaxed back into your chair and you said, "That's what I miss most; being out among the people."
Brother Pruitt, I am certain that in your heart of hearts, you genuinely care about The Church, the Pastors and the people. Lately, my prayer has been, "Oh Lord, please don't allow Brother Pruitt to be so far removed from the people that he cannot hear their cries, or be touched by their hurts."
There isn't anyone in this region, including myself, who wishes to make your load heavier. We love you and appreciate your dedication and hard work. But I feel in MY heart of hearts that a General Presbytery Meeting is highly in order as soon as possible. We both know that the longer unanswered questions are ignored, the longer it will take to restore the unity and trust we both long for. I am trusting God to impress upon you the urgency of the hour.
Sincere Regards,
Bishop Danny L. Carter
